Sage Restaurant, The Gardens (Visit #4)

We have a reason to celebrate, and where better to celebrate than Sage, our favorite fine dining restaurant in KL.

Being the first two diners meant immaculate service. Since they were having a special wine's promotion night (Wyndham Estate), it got busy after 7.30pm and I was thankful that we went early because there is nothing that I hate more than to have to wait forever to be served.

We were tempted to go for the Degustation Menu but the first course of raw oysters on the menu put me off, so we went for the Gourmet Dinner set instead.

Food in Sage, as usual was a delight to eat.

Freshly baked bread with a much-improved basil dip

Amuse bouche - squid tartare topped with cod roe. Slightly tangy, rather appetizing, it's a pity we can't have more.

The Gourmet Dinner comes with a Chef's Special of the Day, and today's special is the Carpaccio of Yellowfin Tuna. I have a thing for carpaccio's and this is a damn fine dish. Fresh with a hint of ginger. And how do they manage to make the side salad taste so good?

My appetizer was from Chef Daniel's Specials - Seared Foie Gras with Roasted Figs. I never used to like foie gras but I am finding that it is beginning to grow on me. Chef Daniel must have done an excellent job here to have converted me! The foie gras was silky smooth, complimented well by the sweet sauce.

Hubby had the Confit of Duck Leg with Puy Lentil and Olives. He had this same appetizer on his 2nd visit and liked it so much that he ordered it again. And it tasted even better this time!

For my main course, I chose another dish from Chef Daniel's Special, Herb Crusted Black Cod with Scallops and Miso Sauce. Everything was cooked to perfection, the cod light and flaky, the herb crust not too overpowering and the scallops sweet and juicy.

Hubby also had a fish main course, the Atlantic Seabass with king prawn and seaweed sauce. He was very impressed with this dish, a huge slab of fish, the skin crisp and the flesh moist. The king prawn was gigantic and very juicy. The seaweed sauce is very flavourful. My hubby agrees with me that Chef Daniel is a very clever man
.

My dessert was the Hazelnut Nougat Souffle with Valrhona Chocolate Ice Cream. One word, yummy!

Hubby's dessert was the Chocolate Fondant with Earl Grey Ice Cream. The chocolate fondant was really rich. Mmmm mmmm.

Some chocolate macarons with our coffee and tea.

Possibly the nicest meal we've had in Sage.
